The Transformative Power of Retreats
April 15, 2024
Life usually treats me well in Sun Valley, but I’ve decided it's time for a change of scenery and a social break from my regular crowd. This weekend, I’m steering towards a retreat to the extreme, alluring desert.
Burnout is real, folks. Even amidst the beauty of Sun Valley, with comforting routines of meditation, exercise, and my attempts at off-grid digital detox, there are days when it feels like just not enough. I’m taking Honey and we’re heading off for a refreshing adventure. We're seeking the warmth and dramatic landscapes that promise a break from the muddy, snowy trails back home, which won't clear up until mid-June.
There’s something magically cathartic about the stark, sun-drenched expanses. This retreat will help me to rediscover joy and awe in the raw contours of nature. I’m geared up for an intensive day mile hike through a particular slot canyon that I have been dreaming of for some time. All of this will allow me to reconnect with myself outside the usual hustle. I’m looking forward to watching the sun rise and set, sleeping in my tent, basking in the light between glowing canyons, and riding my bike alongside the red rock. I’ll visit my favorite local shop filled with one of a kind treasures, savor a strawberry jalapeño margarita at the Mexican joint, and indulge in play that makes me feel like a kid again. I plan to feel deeply and unapologetically. I’ll let my emotions flow as freely as the Colorado River.
To those feeling the weight of everyday pressures, consider that a retreat can be your sanctuary, a space to rejuvenate and rediscover your spark. It doesn’t have to be costly or extravagant. Whether it’s a getaway to a remote spot or a vibrant new city, what’s important is that it resonates with you. Define what you seek and let that guide your choice.
I hope you carve out space for your own retreat. It’s all about confronting your challenges, embracing change, and emerging renewed. Where will your retreat take you?
